It’s like I always say, relationships aren’t easy, they do take work but there are things we can do to make that ride a little bit more enjoyable. So you’ve just met someone, or you’ve been seeing your partner a while, or you’re living together, or you’re married, or… well… you get my drift. No matter what stage of a relationship you’re at, you’ll always be seeking out new ways to spend time together and generally, create some wonderful memories to look back on.
Sometimes, in relationships, we argue more than we should. Not because we choose to but because life simply gets in the way from time to time. Someone’s had a long day at work and come home with a stick up their arse about a plate being left in the sink and suddenly, all hell breaks loose at you sit down to watch Millionaire Matchmaker but he’s decided to play Fifa instead. You get my drift right? So what’s the best escape from this situation to recharge your batteries and rekindle your love for one another? A romantic getaway of course. Why?
It’s good to have something to look forward to…
When you’re working 9-5 day in and day out and it’s the same shit different day, having a big red X on your calendar really drags your ass through the week. It’s also pretty fun planning things together, and holiday shopping, and saving the money that will soon become a travel pouch of Euros which, inevitably, will turn into 1 or 20 Pina Coladas.
…and spending your hard earned money on something other than bills.
Let’s face it, if you’re putting aside £200 a month for gas and electric, you’re probably going to want to wrap yourself in tin foil and stuff yourself into the microwave. However, if you know that money’s going to be spent on fun in the sun (and the likes), you’ll soon find yourself being more savvy and enjoying every penny you spend.
You’ll be far, far away from every day distractions…
There’ll be none of this ‘friends showing up unexpectedly’ business, or those late night phone calls from the office which you really want to ignore but can’t, or your Mother turning up and chewing your ear off for an hour. Nope. Au revoir to every day distractions and bonjour to there being only one big distraction, being your significant other.
…and reality in general.
You’re staying in a hotel, that means that you don’t have to make the bed because when you return from a day of daytime drinking, excursion, general couple-y tomfoolery, you’ll find the bed made beautifully, fresh towels, perhaps some additional toiletries. What bliss. When you’re on a romantic getaway, gone are the days of petty squabbles over trivial chores! Here here!
You’ll spend genuine, quality time together…
That’s the best thing about a glorious sunshine getaway, the time you’ll spend together. It doesn’t really matter what you end up doing, and I bet you’ll be surprised by the kinda things you end up talking about. I imagine you’ll find out even more about each other, perhaps things you never knew and it’ll be a great feeling, I guarantee it.
…Because you’re away together, so you kinda have to.
It’s far too easy when you’re surrounded by home comforts to be with each other in the same room, but not spend time together. When you’re away, you are literally forced to be together. Oh tragic. You know what this means ladies? When you talk, he’ll have to listen. Okay, I’m kidding, I’m sure he listens anyway, but you get where I’m coming from.
You’ll do loads of fun things together while you’re away…
It’s very much each to their own when it comes to holidays but regardless, I think it’s safe for me to assume that on a romantic getaway, in betwixt the candle-lit dinners and strolls on the beach, you’ll actually want to do actual things together. This isn’t a time to be sat on a sofa in front of the tele, and you’ll feel great for getting up off your arse, grabbing your guy or girl, and going out and about.
…Including having lots of sex, which will be phenomenal.
Need I say more?
You’ll fall in love all over again
As you spend more time together, just the two of you, and get to know more about each other, and make the effort to do things, and go places, you’ll become closer than ever and I’m certain you’ll sit at dinner one night and look at your significant other lovingly and feel overwhelmingly happy and think “fuck me, I love you”.
Oh and if you’re by the beach, you’ll see each other naked pretty much all the time
Enough said you cheeky monkeys.
